Sara & Cory | Arts Club of Washington wedding

Sara and Cory attended my alma mater, Tulane University.  It's one of the reasons I liked their wedding so much, but another was the incredible personalization they brought to the Arts Club of Washington.  They had each of their centerpieces designed by a talented friend or family member - and they clearly have a lot of them.  Another reason might have been their touching vows.  I'm pretty bad at understanding language when I'm trying to photograph, but everybody was crying and the vibe in the room at that moment was hushed joy.  Good times!  Plus, these two are freakin' ballers. wedding photographer Amber Wilkie wedding details at arts club of washington dc I had a good time playing with the art at the venue - different kinds of compositions than are normally available in a wedding venue.  Struggling AC units notwithstanding, it was a really cool place. lela rose wedding dress at arts club of washington dc bride gets her makeup done at dc arts club bridesmaids with the wedding dress Ack!  Look at this girl! getting ready in black and white bride sister and mother getting ready at the dc arts club bride and mother moment at the arts club of washington getting ready at the arts club of washington dc Big thanks to Porter for coming out to help and hang with the guys.  They took off for Bobby's Burger Palace while all the makeup-and-hair action was shaking down upstairs. groomsmen eating burgers on wedding day groomsmen hanging around at arts club of washington groom and his brother get ready for the arts club wedding bride and bridesmaids at arts club of washington classical bridal portrait at arts club of washington Plenty of time for bridal pictures meant we got some sexy Sara... sexy bridal boudoir noir And some extremely funky bridesmaids' pictures.  This wasn't my idea - I don't get to take credit.  "Let's do some M.C. Heather & Anthony | Eastern Market engagement

Heather and Anthony bought me dinner at a fabulous restaurant exported from Florence.  Soooo, needless to say, they are on my A+ list.  We started at Acqua Al 2's new room upstairs and then scooted around Eastern Market a bit. engagement photos at acqua al 2 engagement photos in a restaurant engagement photography in a restaurant eastern market engagement photography I tried something new and weird with Heather and Anthony.  I rather like this double exposure thing.  Not so bad for a first try, right? engagement photography double exposure As I told Heather and Anthony, my favorite place to do an engagement session in the city is always somewhere new.  I encourage my clients to pick "somewhere meaningful" for them, because I want their engagement photos to actually talk to who they were as an engaged couple.  But I also recommend that because it means I get to shoot in new locations all the time.  There's always something to play with in any given neighborhood.  For instance, I love the heck out of this image below, which was taken in a tiny courtyard next to some office buildings. It is definitely not a "portrait location."  It's one of the great magic things about photography - what's not in the photo doesn't exist. eastern market engagement session  engagement photos in an alley engagement photography in washington dc washington dc engagement photography Good times, guys!  I'm looking forward to your wedding!
