Not gonna lie, I know almost nothing about babies. I come in for an hour, encourage cuddling and smiles, then I hit the road and process the images. But it's really interesting how two-week-old newborns have such different personalities. They can't tell you much, but their eyes are doing lots of things. And their mouths. And, hey, who are we kidding, their butts.
Kate and Joey invited me into their home to document a piece of their first days with Baby J.
This is one of my favorite family photos ever. Their poor dog is feeling neglected with the new addition. And: owls!
It was mad overcast that day but their house has tons of beautiful light.
I had one foot out the door and Baby J started doing his asleep-smiling thing. We caught one!
Congratulations guys! He's beautiful.
A & A are married and they got kids and they seem to be loving life. But they're engaged again anyway. Cuz. It's pretty great. And when you're engaged, you do engagement photos, obviously. So we did. In Bon Air Park, which still had tons of fall foliage going on.
These two are so goofy and hilarious. We worked on three movie references during this photo shoot. This is The Notebook. Right?!
Not pictured: Dirty Dancing, whereby I made them go down to the creek and try to dance on a log. I underestimated the difficulty of that maneuver. You're also missing the Reservoir Dogs take we did with the fam. I'm probably going to use it for all family sessions from now on. Also, imagine me attempting to explain how to do Reservoir Dogs without using the word "badass" (because of swearing). I always bring the awkward.
Pretty sure A is doing jazz hands here.
Congratulations you guys!
Holly and Justin celebrated their first wedding anniversary with - me! Ok, they had a real celebration and all, but exactly one year before we met up, they tied the knot in Virginia. The newlyweds and Pumpkin, their adorable tiny dog, and I met up on the first of what has turned out to be many frigid days. It was a lot of "jacket off!" click click click "jacket on!"
For those of you who are uninitiated, the Great Falls are indeed very great. I was also quite proud of my fellow DMV-area folks. It was damn cold that day but the park was packed to the gills with folks hiking and doing whatever else it is people do at parks. We also saw two other photographers doing portrait sessions. What can you do!
Most of the trees had given up the ghost, but we found a good one.
Congratulations, you guys!
