Allison & David | DC courthouse wedding

Allison and David got hitched at the DC courthouse, amidst a small but joyful group of family and friends. It was a balmy 27* out, so we skipped the outdoors as much as possible and instead hit up the National Gallery's modern wing, where they have been reinstalling a couple artworks I missed. These two enjoy a good "street" scene, so I concocted a few for them, with the help of the tourists. DC-elopement-wedding-photography-2DC-elopement-wedding-photography-4 I shoot at this museum a lot, so sometimes it's hard to think of new things to do in the space. But we took some new angles for these two. DC-elopement-wedding-photography-3DC-elopement-wedding-photography-5DC-elopement-wedding-photography-6 A quick jaunt in the classical side. DC-elopement-wedding-photography-7 This girl seemed to have no idea there was a photo shoot happening on either side of her. Modern, right? DC-elopement-wedding-photography-8DC-elopement-wedding-photography-9 Portraits wrapped, we took a very chilly walk two blocks over to the courthouse. Check out David's hat - very swank! Katherine & Kermit | Carnegie Institution for Science wedding | Washington, DC

Katherine and Kermit were married last month at the always-charming, always-classy Carnegie Institution for Science in a room filled with smiles, tears and a hundred candles. You may remember these two from their whacky engagement session. I was ready for more antics, but they were far more interested in cuddling and talking sweet to each other than goofing off for the camera (go figure!). Katherine and Kermit: Carnegie-Institution-of-Science-wedding-14 Big shout-out to Katie from The Plannery (who almost certainly is a mom by now - congratulations Katie!) and Stephanie and Liza from Studio DBI for planning, designing and executing such a beautiful setting for these two to get hitched in. We started the day at the Jefferson. Carnegie-Institution-of-Science-wedding-2Carnegie-Institution-of-Science-wedding-3 You'll see about seven thousand photos with the flower girls. Here's #1. Carnegie-Institution-of-Science-wedding-10 Too funny. This is why we do portraits before the ceremony. Ronee & Bill | Arts Club of Washington, DC wedding

Ronee and Bill feel things. You can tell because you can see that shiz plain as day on their faces. Love, joy, admiration, astonishment. They tied the knot at the Arts Club of Washington in a ceremony that can only be described as a production. They have scads of theater friends and so their semi-DIY wedding was a complete triumph of execution, design and performance. And it was fun, too. Ronee and Bill: Arts-Club-of-Washington-DC-wedding-photography-52 We started the day right next door at the Hotel Lombardy. I used to live right next door to Bill in the confluence of our post-college weepy what-am-I-going-to-do-with-my-life phase. They're all grown up now. And so am I. Life is crazy!
