Miriam & RJ | Carnegie Institution for Science wedding | Washington, DC

Miriam and RJ were married at the Carnegie Institution for Science a few weeks ago, surrounded by some of the sweetest family I have ever met. And they played Whitney Houston's "I Wanna Dance With Somebody" without even a hint of irony, which, if you ask me, speaks a lot to how ridiculously genuine they are. Their brunch wedding in the beautiful rotunda was about the most relaxed it is possible for a wedding to be, with plenty of smiles to spare. first dance epic wedding photography at carnegie institution for science Miriam got ready upstairs in the kick-ass library. getting ready at the carnegie institution for science wedding carnegie institution for science wedding preparations hugging her grandmother at carnegie institution for science wedding the bride is so strong at carnegie institution for science wedding father of the bride sees her for the first time It was raining, so we had to do all the portraits inside. Often they look a little wary, but consent. Miriam told me to be really careful - because her ring is "over 300 years old". Whaaaat? Those little hands are on their own separate rings, and slide closed to cover the heart. How freakin' awesome is that? bride's ring close up Miriam's dad getting down. Liz & Ashwin | National Museum for Women in the Arts wedding | Washington, DC

Liz and Ashwin, with the help of their brilliant planners A. Dominick Events, threw the prettiest, most atmospheric wedding I have had the opportunity to document. They and their families infused the day with warmth and laughter, while honoring both Hindu and Jewish traditions. The National Museum for Women in the Arts provided a truly spectacular setting for quite a day. wedding photojournalist amber wilkie They got started at their impressive suite at the Sofitel. hindu preparation at the sofitel in washington dc auntie with the sari for the bride mother in law and bangles at hindu wedding ceremony bride gets ready at the sofitel in washington dc I love how putting on a wedding sari and accessories is a big family affair. bride puts on bangles for hindu wedding bride's auntie helps her get ready bride gets ready with stepmother mother in law helps bride get ready for hindu wedding little girl watches bride put on her makeup auntie and bride holding hands They we scooted to the National Museum for Women in the Arts for family pictures and some quick bride and groom photos. wedding portraits at national museum for women in the arts With some awesome art. NMWA keeps their weird art in one tiny room, apparently, but fortunately for me, it was also the only spot with a window. Also fortunately for me, Liz and Ashwin were keen to have their photos taken in front of this sweet/weird thing. weird portraits at national museum for women in the arts Portrait work done, it was go-time! photojournalism at hindu wedding in washington dc bride and her father share a moment before the wedding ceremony groom waiting for his bride at hindu wedding Told you it was atmospheric. Tara & Dustin | National Mall engagement

Tara and Dustin go with the flow, and I love them for it. See I planned a lovely indoor, heated greenhouse session with just a tad of happy-couple-in-front-of-the-Capitol images. But when we showed up at the Botanical Gardens, it was absolutely packed to the gills with tourists... and so we had to improvise. Lucky for me, Tara and Dustin are extremely chill people, game for anything, so we just hung around the Mall and I showed them all my little secret spots and anything else we found along the way. The National Mall is a really cool place. cute couple on the national mall engagement photography at the u.s. botanic gardens These two are outrageously cute. capitol hill engagement photography super cute couple laughing on the national mall national mall engagement photography engagement photographer Amber Wilkie engagement session on the national mall
