Corinne and Andy held a big kick-ass wedding celebration at the Hendry House in Arlington, Virginia a few weeks ago. These two kept it really, really real with a banging band, good food, great company and zero frills.
I met Corinne and her mother at the very first ceramics class I took. I thought it was so sweet they did a ceramics class together. Years later, she's living with her new husband in NYC. Life!
Let no one say this was a solemn occasion.
Corinne's dad's reaction to seeing her in the wedding dress was pretty great.
Thanks so much to Angel for coming out to photo this wedding with me. A handful of these images are hers.
Cocktail hour on the patio at the Hendry House. They couldn't have asked for a nicer day.
Corinne got the dance floor action started and it didn't let up all night.
Corinne's uncle (I think I got that right) is in a band called The Narwhals and they destroyed it at the wedding - mostly playing rock and roll hits. They even took on "Piece of my Heart" by Janis Joplin. Good times!
The coordinator told me these cookies came from Sticky Fingers, which is ridiculous because they are a vegan bakery and the peanut butter cookies tasted like they had a stick of butter in them.
Congratulations, you guys!

Amy and Matt got married on a beautiful day last week after having planned their wedding for just a handful of days (not that you can remotely tell). This wedding completed the trifecta for me - I finally photographed a wedding conducted by the third lawyer in Arlington who performs them. Even better, lawyer #3 holds them in a lovely courtyard in-between all the office and apartment buildings! Afterward, we rolled on down to the Netherlands Carillon / Iwo Jima Memorial for iconic views, "urban" scenes and even one in the "deep woods." Amy and Matt:
We started in a pretty little courtyard to the side of the lawyer's office building.
There were even canine guests.
Then we hopped in some cars and rolled on down to the Iwo Jima Memorial and Netherlands Carillon. It's a good spot for after Arlington intimate weddings because there's lots of pretty trees and such and also an unexpected but lovely view of not one but two memorials!
Playing with the funky architecture.
We came back around to say hi again to Amy's grandmother and there were about a thousand eighth graders in bright orange shirts, so naturally I had Amy and Matt walk through them.
My clients humor me sometimes. Ok, most of the time.
These "deep woods" are about five feet from the street.
Congratulations guys!
Not gonna lie, I know almost nothing about babies. I come in for an hour, encourage cuddling and smiles, then I hit the road and process the images. But it's really interesting how two-week-old newborns have such different personalities. They can't tell you much, but their eyes are doing lots of things. And their mouths. And, hey, who are we kidding, their butts.
Kate and Joey invited me into their home to document a piece of their first days with Baby J.
This is one of my favorite family photos ever. Their poor dog is feeling neglected with the new addition. And: owls!
It was mad overcast that day but their house has tons of beautiful light.
I had one foot out the door and Baby J started doing his asleep-smiling thing. We caught one!
Congratulations guys! He's beautiful.
