We did it, folks. We completed another year. In 2014, I documented dozens of unions - full of joy and complexity and faith and love. Some were small affairs - some even small enough that I was the only witness. Some were massive throwdowns. All were really, really great.
I said it
last year and the
year before (and the
year before that), and I'll say it again now: I have the best job and the best clients. Here's a question I get all the time from people at cocktail parties and the like (because I'm super-fancy and I go to cocktail parties alllll the time): "do you have any great stories about bridezillas?" I always disappoint them because no, I really don't. Literally every single couple I have ever worked with has been easygoing, genuinely in love with each other (as far as I can tell!) and, well,
nice.
This year, I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with so many lovely couples. I'm grateful that I get to capture such a special day and that the art I make will be cherished for a lifetime, amongst a very small group. I'm grateful for my husband, and I feel so lucky to have found someone with whom I can grow. I'm grateful for the flexibility in my life that allows me to pursue all the silly random things I want to try - like
ceramics, improv, guitar, calligraphy. I remain grateful that my body works for me. I'm grateful that there are so many delicious foods in the world to eat. I'm grateful there are so many exciting places to visit and that my life has so far afforded me
many travels. I'm grateful for the chance to do the work and for all the couples who are entrusting me with their memories in 2015. We rock on!
And now, some favorites from 2014 weddings:
Thanks, 2014.
