Thanks to Cassidy DuHon for bringing me along for Lisa and Scott's classy, fun wedding at Hotel Monaco in Washington, DC!
I have a selfish reason for loving this wedding - it was all within three blocks of Gallery Place and therefore required almost no travel on my part. It totally worked in everyone's favor, though, because we got to take pictures in front of some military "thing" - somewhere between a Humvee and a tank, their ceremony was in a beautiful church right downtown, and then everybody partied it up at the Hotel Monaco!
Their ceremony was held at the beautiful Holy Rosary Church just a few blocks from the Hotel Monaco. When it was over, Lisa and Scott made their exit on a pedicab!
I cannot get enough of Lisa's veil and dress! The whole thing was just darling. And I seriously never say darling.
I love this set. Scott gave a very moving groom speech. Apparently their wedding day was the closest the moon had been to the Earth in something like 20 years. Scott wrapped all this into his story and managed to make his bride laugh and cry.
I got to play photobooth girl for the first time at this wedding. It was fun but exhausting! These kids basically monopolized the whole show.
And then, they danced.
Congratulations Lisa & Scott!
When I heard it was going to snow on the cherry blossoms, which only bloom for a little bit of time each year (and generally long after it's stopped snowing), I got very, very excited. When I couldn't convince any of my friends or clients to get out this morning, I decided to go myself. Sometimes you have to be your own bride.
In the end, I was glad I couldn't talk anyone into it because the one inch we were supposed to get was far closer to a dusting and had melted off by the time we got down there at 9am. My vision was dashed and the sun was out - not what I had in mind! But since we were out there in our wedding gear, we decided to go for it anyway.
To get my husband in the shot, we set up a tripod and used my remote. One of my best (and cheapest) photography investments.
We've got about one week left of cherry blossoms before this show hits the road for one more year. If you'd like to schedule a portrait or bridal session, get in touch with me now!
