We went everywhere for this session.  And these two went to town. engaged couple at jack's boathouse engagement photos with son intelligence photo - engagement photography engagement photo in the dc metro True story: if my husband is around when I'm editing photos, I'll always bug him for his opinion.  "Hey, do you like this one?  What about this one?"  He looked through these and a couple others from this session and he says, "You really make her look like a knockout in these photos."  So cute that he thinks I can do that.  Sorry dear, but she is a knockout.

Barbara: preggers! | Washington DC maternity photography

Not gonna lie, I am in love with this session. It was my very first maternity shoot with a good friend who I have photographed before. Barbara is the first person in our little friend group to get pregnant, and I know we are all waiting to see how the whole baby thing goes for them.  I'm super excited to get my camera near that little person in her belly.  And, you know, to meet her too. maternity photos in Anacostia Park black and white maternity photo Oh, did I forget to mention that Barbara is absolutely gorgeous? beautiful mother-to-be in black and white candid maternity photography The above images were taken at the "Urban Tree House" in Anacostia Park.  I wanted to stick close to Barbara's house, across the river, and we both got really excited about this "urban tree house" thing.  I was picturing large metal trees... but the "tree house" is really that thing behind Barbara.  Anyway, it was a nice structure to work with.  And then, conveniently, a short bit away was a boat dock! pregnant woman on a dock Dang, girl. maternity photos on the Anacostia River maternity photos in Batholdi Park Sooo pretty.  This is my favorite. maternity photographer Amber Wilkie beautiful pregnant woman in black and white We finished up the session at Bartholdi Park, which has just reopened after having been under construction for about a million years.  I hope it doesn't get overrun with photographers anytime soon, because you could really shoot an entire session here and have lots of different things to work with.  I'll definitely be back if anyone wants to do a quickie lunchtime session! pregnancy photography in bartholdi park, washington, dc

Modern Art Portraits

I had a free day last Friday, so David and I met up to check out the new exhibit at the Hirshhorn Museum - my favorite on the Mall.  Only they're between new exhibits (the next up is Andy Warhol) so we had to wander around the permanent collection.  Poor us.  And because I had a more or less willing subject, I took the opportunity to make some portraits with David, who is always up to "just stand there". red line david portrait black and white portrait with modern art funky portrait at hirshhorn museum portrait with sculpture at hirshhorn twisty sculpture at hirshhorn
