That old day job I had sometimes hires me to go photograph really boring things. But every now and then, they're in really cool places, like New York City. George and I hit the town the morning of my assignment (fancy gala dinner awards ceremony thing) and did the single most touristy thing possible: the Statue of Liberty.
Y'all, this is my husband. He's away at the moment. I prefer when he's here.
This is a normal "tourist" photo of George and me "making like the" Statue of Liberty. I have a lot of "making like the" photos in my personal collection. George says we are going to cherish them someday. That is likely. But I'm definitely going to have to teach him about camera angle and lens choice and not making my thighs look enormous.
Then we were done with all that and caught this street show. What's really weird is that I saw the exact same show performed by different guys at Central Park the next day. I don't know if it's a franchise (a street performer franchise??) or if someone ripped off the other group... but it was the same routine - down to the same jokes! I thought that was so odd.
The next day, I had breakfast with David and Carrie.
David makes his eggs too runny.
Caitlin and Trevor are the second couple I've made get into a fountain during their engagement session this year. I'd say it was worth it.
Caitlin and Trevor met while they were both students at GW, so we hung out there for the afternoon.
This is the bench where the magic began. I love that they both remember and can pinpoint the exact bench where they met.
Then we hopped in the library. Because libraries are totally sexy - or were you not aware?
We then popped over to Georgetown just as we were losing the light for some canal action and that fountain shot up above.
It was a good day. Congratulations Caitlin and Trevor! Looking forward to working with you guys again for your big day!
Nancy and Ilan make the best facial expressions. And they have excellent taste. And they are adorable.
We started the day in their bridal suite with a ketubah signing. The rabbi - that's Ilan's father. He was hilarious.
And then the Justin the videographer and I rolled on over to the Art of Shaving on 17th to watch Ilan trim up that beard of his.
Big thanks to Marcella for shooting this one with me.
Did I mention they were adorable? First look with no tears (!) Everybody always feels so much better after the first look.
Then we scooted over to Longview Gallery to do some portraits in the really cool alleys behind the venue.
Love love love the orange and gray (look around the website a bit for the why).
Nancy and her girls hid out in the convention center for a minute so their guests wouldn't see her. So we took advantage of this rad sculpture mobile thing.
Finally, it was go time.
Cutest first kiss ever.
Longview is such a fantastic venue. I love the juxtaposition of all the craziness and emotion and dance floor with the art on the walls.
Congratulations you guys!
